Boris aged 6½ with his mother Evelyn, Ealing, early 1921. Aged 7, with sister Margie (12) and grandfather Oswald Cattley, Ealing 1921. Boris, aged 8, with his father in Worthing, September 1923.

Boris joined the RAF, and by 1942 he was Squadron Leader, 39150, with 138 Squadron. The squadron had been formed by bomber command to support the Special Operations Executive, supplying resistance groups in enemy-occupied territory with materials and assistance. On 10th March 1942, Boris was piloting an Armstrong Whitworth Whitley (Z9125, squadron letters NF-A) on an operation over France, and crashed during take-off from their base at Stradishall, Suffolk. Boris and the other four crew members (who were Czechoslovakian) were all killed.
